I've seen several heads advertised as being newer than they actually are by serial number so it is important to know this determination for sure. Not for sure how far back or how far forward this would continue for ?Ĭan anyone else elaborate or state for sure ? How do current model year serial number tags fit into this description ? Seems like with the current format of H and the first 5 digits specifying the model then an X and the 6 digit serial number this does seem to hold true. I've got an earlier 4 row corn head 443 which I think is a 1977 model that has a different serial number configuration this does not apply to. So I think from at least 88 forward this should work for combines, platforms and corn heads ?

I know the numbers seem to work for my 1988 combine and 1994 corn head.
